The Black Coin is an establishment from the cold side of Mercury, a hypothetical gentlecoon's club full of aristocratic, crotchety artists and scholars. The Black Coin caters to the Coldsiders' preference for public aloofness and private debauchery. Disciplinarian games, elaborate and arbitary speech codes, hours of sensory deprivation, servant training under heavy bondage. These are not considered degrading in the least, but sensible means of soothing the Mercurians' compulsive nature. A dress code is rigidly enforced, but many prefer to ignore it and endure the consequences.
