The Jovians were pale-green neomustelids, who flew through the vaporous soup of Jupiter on an innate system of glider wings and gas pods. The Jovian temperament was optimistic, disciplined, and extroverted to a fault. This was not accidental, as those who lacked these attributes were genetically programmed not to breed. Their culture was corporate tribalist in structure, with a green-libertarian economy. Their ethics valued intellectual achievement, social standing, and material luxury as paramount, and as nearly identical to each other. Everything, even parental bonds, was determined by fierce but non-violent competition.
