* Nationality: French
* Pronouns: she/her/her/hers/herself
* Species: Ortolan

Blank is a short, fit avian. She has muted brown plumage with black stripes down her back, save for her chest, which is golden, and a short light red beak framed by two stripes of gold on either side. She has no hair to speak of, just more feathers, and her eyes are beady, black, and curious. At her left temple, there's some kind of implant, a ring softly glowing blue. Her legs are long and spindly, and her arms are long, toned, and have wings attached to the backs and her sides. Fanning out behind her is a tail that goes down to her knees.

Typically, on her chest is a red and white vertically-striped <ins>belly shirt</ins>, and with this, she'll have pair of black shorts that barely reach past her thighs, and a pair of white paper leg warmers done up to look like drumstick caps. Her feet are light red with long, sharp talons, three toes spread out in front and one in back.
S is a short, fit avian. He has muted brown plumage with black stripes down his back, save for his chest, which is golden, and a short light red beak framed by a moustache of gold on either side. He has no hair to speak of, just more feathers, and his eyes are beady, black, and sharp. At his right temple, there's some kind of implant, a ring softly glowing blue. His legs are long and spindly, and his arms are long, toned, and have wings attached to the backs and his sides. Fanning out behind him is a tail that goes down to his knees.

Typically, he wears a crumpled tan jacket that's probably made of leather but looks like deep-fried breading. The jacket is usually open to show a red and white vertically-striped <ins>sports bra</ins>. Completing this outfit is usually a pair of stretchy black skinny jeans. His feet are light red with long, sharp talons, three toes spread out in front and one in back.

== Background ==

Ambelopoulia lives in [[Ovidia's Universe|a society]] which has not yet resolved petty yet devastating oppressions such as speciesism, and is an activist choosing to drive on's culture forward through uncomfortable art. On's chosen medium is dance. On perceives the world as considering on's bodies to be disposable and consumable, which is why on chose to name onself after a Cypriot dish made from songbirds. It's also certainly no coincidence that both S and Blank are not just any songbirds: they are ortolan, a bird with a brutal history of being force-fed pablum, drowned in alcohol, roasted, and eaten with towels over the diner's faces, as the legend goes, to hide their sins from God.

As such, their choice of attire may seem to make more sense: Paper covers for legs, KFC-striped tops, batter-fried jackets -- Ambelopoulia has decided that it's not enough to simply stand by and be consumed without at least looking the part. On insists on a kind of kayfabe in which on's bodies must also ''present'' as food, so as to ask: Isn't this what you wanted? Isn't this what you were about to do to us anyway? All I'm doing is revealing what is frequently left hidden. You cannot simply cover it with a towel. God sees everything, and so should you.

== Performances ==

Ambelopoulia's performances are dance routines in the vein of Les Twins<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu0grjZGXRc Example of the dance style]</ref>, with extreme synchronization, mime and seemingly spacetime-defying slowdowns and reversals. However, on's performances are mainly themed after on's core ethos. During performances, on has thrown onselves into pools of alcohol (or at least, water that has been dyed to resemble alcohol; on would ''like'' to be able to afford swimming pools of Armagnac, but alas), being doused in cooking oil and flinging it everywhere with the movements of on's bodies, eating millet seed forced down each throat by the other body, covering both bodies in condiments, death drops into roasting pans on top of beds of vegetables, you name it.

== Gear ==

Ambelopoulia could not exist without [[Ovidia's_Universe#Two-Way_Interfaces|two-way high-speed brain implants]] that allow each member access to the mind and body of the other. This is what the light in each body's temples are. This interface has sufficient bandwidth to allow S and Blank to control and synchronize each others' bodies, even to speak using the others' mouths, definitely enough to finish each others' sentences or to simultaneously deliver whatever Ambelopoulia might have to say. Due to the fact that each other's body is much closer to interoceptive correctness, they tend to spend a lot of time controlling each other as a form of gender euphoria. On sometimes jokes that eventually, they'll just swap completely, though their relationship to gender and their own bodies is slightly more complicated than that.
[[Ovidia]]'s universe<ref>Not its name. Because Ovidia is the most prominent character from that universe, it's called that.
__TOC__

== Technology ==

=== The Diadem ===
The major form of brain-computer interface is the diadem, a successor to the transcranial stimulation helmets currently in use. With a detailed brain scan, the diadem is capable of transmitting extremely precise signals to the brain in order to alter its functioning. This process can be time-consuming depending on the exact alterations required, but most types of alterations are understood and possible using this system. This includes but is not limited to the erasure, alteration, or installation of memories, false inputs, the alteration of preferences and responses to stimuli, and the alteration of personalities. Some of these changes require only one session to install; some wear off over time.

This technology is not without risk. Extremely extensive use of the technology, as determined by the length of time undergoing active alteration and the frequency of alterations, is a risk factor in developing dementia in the same way smoking is a risk factor for developing cancer. The risk is usually very slight for most applications, orders of magnitude less dangerous than getting an MRI. Some treatments, such as the treatment regimen developed for depression or other wide-ranging mood disorders, are intensive and frequent enough to have a noticeable increase in risk, which is why anti-depressants are still used. The technology did not obsolete existing methods of treating mood disorders; it's simply one more tool in the box to help them.

=== Passthoughts ===

It was believed that the diadem could render itself unable to affect the functioning of the brain, a kind of brain-wave 'corruption' that produced no side effects, but that made further use of this technology impossible. This was thought to be an unfortunate bug until it was better understood. Wide-ranging alterations during a state in which a person is fixated upon a particular thought will not only fail, but prevent other alterations to affected areas of the brain without the subject re-fixating upon that thought. This has now been turned into a security feature known as a passthought, which protects the brain from most forms of alteration without concentrating upon the passthought. Recent advancements in passthought technology have allowed for a 'foot in the door' initialization, allowing the computer to open a persistent connection once it is let in by the passthought, which negates the previous necessity for a subject to continually concentrate for the duration of the alteration.

It is not known whether passthoughts are alterable after creation. Work is underway to test this.

=== Audio ===

This technology requires a decent amount of bandwidth and processing power in order to properly perform, but can be done by peripherals attached to high-end, but still consumer-grade, computers, similar to VR rigs today. Thus, the lightest and most mobile diadems are intended for use with laptops, not tablets or phones. However, advancements in psychoacoustics have resulted in fairly reliable audio waveforms that can perform some forms of alteration, notably alterations in consciousness, and these can be exported and played using any consumer audio device. Some of these waveforms are able to bypass the passthought and perform alterations regardless of whether the subject is concentrating on their passthought or not, though the method by which they do this is poorly understood and it is considered to be a security hole that work is underway to patch. Until then, possession of such audio files or algorithms designed to render them are a crime.

=== Consumer Goods ===

Like with many technologies, apps and electronics began to be rapidly produced as soon as the technology became public. Digital drugs and other mood-altering scripts were completely unregulated until they were put into drug schedules and legalized. A range of sensations are still available, just with ID requirements and minimum age laws.

An industry revolutionized by this technology was the sleep industry. Reliable, side-effect-free audio waveforms rendered most forms of sleep pharmaceuticals obsolete overnight. Many consumer goods exist to generate the waveforms that cause a subject to fall asleep, but audio files are also freely available off the internet.

Some musicians have been able to weave musical accompaniment into the waveforms without disrupting their effect. It is difficult to accomplish, and usually requires minimalist genres, though several have had success in producing such genres as hard rock, epic trance, or experimental rap with noticeable effects. Some choose to augment the emotional effect of the music they're already writing; some choose to juxtapose bizarre combinations of moods to create entirely new experiences known as 'emotional mashups'.

=== Two-Way Interfaces ===

Because brain-computer interfaces require a significant amount of translation to be intelligible, they require a lot of processor power to render. However, connecting one brain to another brain is a significantly cheaper operation because both entities 'speak the same language', so to speak. So it is possible to have a wireless, two-way interface that allows multiple brains to talk to each other. So far, few have done so, and even fewer have elected to keep their brains connected for longer than small periods at once, due to the extreme intimacy enforced by such devices. Only [[Ambelopoulia|a few brave and dedicated individuals]] have even attempted an always-on interface with another person.

=== Andreas, "S" ===

* Gender: Trans Man
* Nationality: Cypriot
* Pronouns: he/him/his/his/himself
* Species: Ortolan

=== Ambelopoulia ===

* Gender: Bigender
* Nationality: Global
* Pronouns: <ins>on/on/on's/ons/onself</ins>
* Species: Hivemind (2x Ortolan)

Ambelopoulia is the name given to the gestalt of S and Blank, which is a kind of third entity that exists simultaneously with the two of them. On could be said to be, or represent, anything from <ins>their relationship</ins> to the intersection of their minds to the two individuals as an organization, and this would be grasping towards, but not quite achieving, what on is. On is if S and Blank's brains, despite being fully functional brains, were also lobes of a meta-brain. Like if their brainwaves could constructively interfere to create a separate brainwave, necessarily related but also distinct. On is the entity that S and Blank have dedicated their lives to embodying and reifying.

All three entities are trilingual in Hexagonal French<ref>[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_of_France The variant of French spoken in France itself.]</ref>, Cypriot Greek, and English.

== Background ==

== Performances ==

Ambelopoulia's performances are dance routines in the vein of Les Twins<ref>[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Twins https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Twins]; [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GNG12g2bKw example of the dance style]</ref>, with extreme synchronization, mime and seemingly spacetime-defying slowdowns and reversals.

== Gear ==

__TOC__

== Technology ==

=== The Diadem ===

=== Passthoughts ===

=== Audio ===

=== Consumer Goods ===

=== Two-Way Interfaces ===

Only a few brave and dedicated individuals have even attempted an always-on interface with another person.
Creativity never happens in a vaccuum. The postfurry community is endlessly creative, but it would never had existed without the other things that inspire and influence its creators. From avant-garde sci-fi to silly cartoon nostalgia, we always love to hear about and share books, music and shows with a Postfurry sense of the fantastic, visionary, and humane.

None of these items are "required reading;" likely no one has experienced all of the media here, and it may not all appeal to everyone. But each of these entries had, or could have, something to contribute to the creativity of one or more postfurries, in terms of their asthetics, philosophies, tropes, or themes.

These lists are meant to be ever-expanding, and added to by anyone. If it inspired you, and you're in the postfurry community, it belongs here. If it's something you made, and you think it fits, you can put it here too. You can put a short blurb on this page (280 characters is a good guideline), or create a whole article to write a full-length review.
(Editors will periodically go through these lists to put them in alphabetical order, please feel free to do that yourself as well!)

Muse City is a dream world accessible only in groups of two or more people, and only when all members of the group are thinking or fantasizing about the others as they fall asleep. It then serves as a facilitator for any secret, shared desires of that group.

__TOC__

== Metaphysics ==

It is not known at this time whether Muse City has a persistent existence, or is generated spontaneously by those who visit it, nor even whether there is one Muse City, or many. Those who do visit it, however, unambiguously agree that Muse City is the name of the location they visited. None have ever seen anyone outside their group, even in locations that should logically be staffed (like in businesses).

It is not known whether Muse City is alive, though those who attempt to describe it tend to do so in terms of agency. It is not known whether Muse City is itself the dream of a city, and if so, what city or cities. It is not known whether cities dream at all. It is not known whether cities possess desires. It is not known whether Muse City is the product of those desires aligning upon dreaming, a macrocosm of the events that take place within it. It is only known that it exists, for certain values of existence, and the basic mechanics of how it works.

=== Entry ===

Emotions are powerful things. When emotions align with each other, miracles become possible. Thus it is that people who may not even be in the same location can spontaneously synchronize at the moment of falling asleep, if their thoughts are trained on each other. Much like the supercomputers in ''I, Robot'' can collude without communicating simply by understanding the other supercomputers, so can people.

== Mechanics ==
=== Safety ===
Muse City appears to understand the desires and limits of all relevant parties, and only facilitates desires that they would all enjoy. This does not necessarily mean that those involved are willing to admit these desires in their waking life, even to theirselves. As such, Muse City tends to act as a kind of oracle, revealing previously-unknown shared desires. When these desires are openly known, they tend to manifest in a surprising way.

Any member of a group who experiences the desire to leave Muse City or stop the event from continuing causes them, and all other members, to simultaneously wake up. This can be quite jarring. It is, of course, possible to have a desire one is not ready or willing to admit even to oneself, and to have a desire one is not ready or willing to share with others.

That said, Muse City seems to be able to sense what it can safely push, and what it cannot, such that dreams only seem to end when harm would be caused by continuing. It may produce harrowing, difficult experiences for its members, but as if by definition, no-one seems to regret having gone through them.

=== Location ===

Those who enter Muse City together are not immediately aware of each other, nor appear in the same location, nor appear in same part of the city on subsequent visits. They are, however, always drawn either to each other or an object or location that helps to facilitate their desires, though they may not realize what they are drawn to until they reach it. This means that sometimes, one person will follow another to a location by virtue of the first being drawn to the second, and the second being drawn to that location. The exact location people appear at does not appear to follow any pattern.

=== Transformation ===

Muse City is not simply a world that responds to the whims of those who enter it. It transforms one or more members of the group into a metaphorical representation of the shared desire it intends to facilitate. Due to the nature of social interaction and the fraughtness of lust, these desires are frequently sexual or kink-related, but don't always have to be; purely platonic, non-kinky fantasies exist, and are also facilitated by Muse City.

If a desire results in recurring visits to Muse City, transformations can be similar or thematically related, but are usually not precisely the same, nor do they always happen to the same people.

=== Compulsion ===

Once they meet, any untransformed members of the group are usually compelled to action as facilitated by the transformations of the other members. It is unknown whether this is a compulsion enforced by Muse City, or simply its ability to know exactly how to spur its visitors to enacting their desires on others. Those who are compelled to act tend to later interpret their actions as taking advantage of having an important barrier removed from their ability to act on their desires.

=== Recurrence ===
In the event that the experience of a visit to Muse City isn't enough to push people towards what they want in the waking world, a perfect excuse is built in: It's just a dream. It doesn't really exist. Sometimes a desire is fleeting and leaves almost as quickly as it enters, and some experiences may only be singular, with no need to be revisited. Some never speak of their visits at all.

However, visits to Muse City have the habit of becoming recurring, as the vividness of a visit can cause visitors to become preoccupied with it, which may in turn cause another entry into Muse City, and so on, until the desire is acted upon in the waking world. Once it is, this recurring pattern tends to cease. Only a small percentage of recurring visits to Muse City become stable; some exist without anyone acting upon these desires in the waking world, and some have persisted even after acting upon them.

=== Limitations ===
All events in the dream happen only in the dream, with the exception of bodily functions, though they are not guaranteed to wake up anyone who has one within Muse City. The physical evidence of it, of course, remains in the waking world, to be dealt with in the morning.

With rare, specific exceptions (such as it being the desire being facilitated), it is not possible to experience physical pain in Muse City, no matter how much damage one appears to take. Damage does not spontaneously heal, but subsequent visits to Muse City will not show evidence of previous visits.

In addition, the inhibition of visitors is usually suppressed, unless a feature of the desire being facilitated, by a semi-lucid state while visiting Muse City: Visitors may not know that they are in a dream, but nonetheless understand that their actions somehow have fewer permanent consequences than they appear, and are more easily spurred to action as a result.

== Examples ==

Known examples of Muse City transformations include:

=== Chocolate Hearts ===
Around her neck, she wears a brass <ins>molecule</ins> necklace on a black cord.

== Background ==

Ovidia's actual job title is "Cerebral Sysadmin", a tongue-in-cheek blending of the two lobes of her line of work. In [[Ovidia's Universe|her universe]], a brain-computer interface has been largely perfected, and her job is to use it to diagnose and correct errors in thought processes the way an IT professional diagnoses and corrects errors in computer processes. She has a limited amount of control over the biochemistry of the brain, which isn't to say that she has a limited amount of control over the ''qualia'' a patient experiences, which is where most of her work lies.

She's not just a script-writing psychiatrist, she's also a client. She suffers from unipolar depression, a condition that can be temporarily, but not permanently, kept at bay through the use of these same techniques. She undergoes weekly treatment in order to function properly, which triples her chance of developing Alzheimer's later in life; no technology is perfect. But she is young and smart and cursed with inertia, and she has been given the opportunity to escape the laws of physics, so she's taken it.

== Personal Life ==

The brain-computer interface is, of course, used for much more than business. Ovidia in particular is an avid esports player— her favoured game is Counterstrike —and she frequently wagers her own personality in matches. Because it's so easy to change herself, and to change back, she doesn't have any special attachment to her own personality, viewing it as a kind of aesthetic she can swap out if the mood strikes her.

By default, though, her personality is open and caring in her professional life, and good-naturedly shit-talking and competitive in her personal life. She equally enjoys winning and losing, as long as the match itself is high-level and interesting, and she has a team she likes, but she doesn't tie her own emotional fortunes to that team; she roots for the entire tournament, and voraciously consumes VODs when she can't see other matches. Her first and strongest love is always for the intricate dance of the metagame, and she is both fascinated by and highly supports changes to even entrenched pillars of a system that force people to make more interesting choices.

=== Gender ===

Her self-description of "83% Girl" is a tongue-in-cheek reference to an online quiz that purported to scan your brain and tell you what your gender was. She does not, in fact, believe that the quiz is accurate, nor that the vastness of gender can be quantified with a definitive percentage. At best it's an indication of how closely a person's gender expression aligns with what the author thinks the gender expression of a gender is. But she still liked the ring of it, so she kept it as a meme.

== Gear ==

Her main brain-computer interface is a diadem peripheral attached to a desktop computer. There's one at her office for clients, and she has one at her home for recreational use. She doesn't treat her own depression; instead, another cerebral sysadmin working out of the same office treats her, just like she would treat anyone else.

Scripts can be coded in many existing programming languages, though her line of work has developed nicknames for most of them: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Python_(programming_language) Python] becomes Kaathon, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_(programming_language) C] and its derivatives are Hallucinate, et cetera. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainfuck Brainfuck]... is unchanged.

She has a [[Ovidia's Universe#Audio|special audio file]] loaded on her smart watch for self-defense, albeit an illegal one, as it bypasses the neural encryption that people have to protect theirselves from exactly such an attack.

She possesses some consumer-grade mood-altering technology, as well. A walkman-like device uses the same audio interface (legally) to produce an altered state in the user, marketed as a sleeping aid in the same way sex toys are marketed as a novelty. It has two dials: "Euphoria" and "Relaxation". Ovidia uses it both as a sleep aid and a kink platform, as at high settings, she can be aware but unresponsive and/or spontaneously orgasm.

__TOC__

== Technology ==

=== The Diadem ===

=== Passthoughts ===

=== Audio ===

=== Consumer Goods ===

Her skin is shiny and <ins>azure</ins>, with light buttercup yellow along the underside of her chin and down her front, ending in a W shape that follows the line of her mons and the creases of her thighs. She has X markings across her back in the same buttercup yellow, and stripes on the tops of her forearms and thighs. Her eyes' sclera are brick-red, with slit pupils. Her hands and feet are both webbed, with buttercup-coloured palms and soles, and bulbous fingers and toes.

She typically wears a fitted black Counter-Logic Gaming esports jersey with the blue logo across the front, and a pair of black yoga capris, while keeping her feet bare. She wears a smart watch on her wrist, and a belt clip for a <ins>smartphone</ins>. Around her neck, she wears a brass <ins>molecule</ins> necklace on a black cord.

== Background ==

== Personal Life ==

=== Gender ===

== Gear ==

Her main brain-computer interface is a diadem peripheral attached to a computer. Thus, any computer with enough bandwidth can have one. Handheld devices tend to not have enough power (the 2021 equivalent would be a tablet attempting to run a VR rig), so the most powerful changes are only truly accessible if she has access to a desktop.

That said, simple scripts can be sideloaded through the use of special audio renders. She even has one for self-defense, albeit an illegal one, as it bypasses the neural encryption that people have to protect theirselves from exactly such an attack. This is deployed through the speaker in her smartwatch.

She possesses some consumer-grade mood-altering technology, as well. A walkman-like device uses the same audio interface to produce a continuous state in the user. It has two dials: "Euphoria" and "Relaxation". Ovidia uses it both as a sleep aid and a kink platform, as at high settings, she can be aware but unresponsive and/or spontaneously orgasm.

This is a repository for the creative works, informational texts, and tribal knowledge of the [[Postfurry]] community. '''You, the entity reading this, are eligible to put anything you consider postfurry into this wiki, even if nobody else has done it before''', including but not limited to [[Metacosmology|personal worlds]], philosophy, ethos, characters, worldbuilding projects, and whatever genre of thought you're hoping to find permission to add to this list.

What does this mean? It means that this is a place for postfurries of any stripe to not only describe what they see other people's interpretations of postfurry is, but what their own interpretation of postfurry is. (This interpretation is by definition correct. Postfurry is anything you would like it to be. Seriously.) Postfurry is not an elite. Postfurry is an orchestra. Just because you're not playing the same notes as others, it doesn't mean you're not in harmony. Come make music.
* We need content! Check the [[Special:WantedPages|Wanted Pages]] and [[:Category:Stubs|Stubs]] lists to see if there's anything you can contribute, and to make sure you use page names that match existing links.
* If you want to create a page about yourself, use your automatically-created user page, accessible by clicking the head icon in the top left and then your name in the menu below.
* Create wiki links with brackets and standard spacing, <nowiki>[[like this]]</nowiki> rather than running words together ("WikiWords"). MediaWiki is built to have wiki links with natural spacing, anything else just introduces extra aliases, usually.
* Use [[Special:Categories|categories]] liberally. If you think it makes sense to have a category that doesn't exist, feel free to create it!
** That being said, try to keep category members at the right level of specificity. For instance, the [[Neptunian Culture]] page is in [[:Category:Syncosms]], and also has [[:Category:Neptunian Culture|its own category]]. [[Neptune]] and [[Halcyon]] are part of that category, and so should not also be in [[:Category:Syncosms]].
